Perfect conformation

Hey guys

I'm pretty keen to breed when I leave home to try and improve the stock in my city. I know all the pitfalls and expenses. I really want to bring in halfmoons (longfins, not plakats) in some excellent colours, but I don't see the point if I can't bring in really good conformation, too. I've been trawling AquaBid looking for a halfmoon that does have perfect conformation, but I can't seem to find any. Can someone recommend a breeder? They need to be able to ship to Australia, that's the only limitation.

I've seen a few, but they're not always there. Perfection isn't always available, ya know.

I know it's not always available, but it just seems a shame that so many breeders seem to be aiming for wacky colours over form. I mean, Aquastar71, for instance, has some gorgeous colours, but their fins are all over the place.

As far as I know, each and every breeder (where ever) has some SQ betta. BUT they don't sell them openly - they usually sell them amongst fellow breeders or show fanatics (for high dollars). I suggest you choose a breeder that produces colors of your preference and has good feed back, then contact him. Ask him if he has any SQ HM's or at least of better quality. If you show him that you know what you're talking about, I'm sure he'll offer you some...... but be prepared to pay more than average.

Our local betta "market" on FB sometimes offer SQ HM but they will be auctioned and usually end up costing 3-4 times more than the average betta (but still cheaper than AB). Unfortunately I don't know who's who - I mean I don't know who ships out or who's trust worthy.... All I know is that the community watches each other and will publicly announce any fraud (both by seller and buyer).

Thanks very much, Indjo, it's heartening to know that. :) I'll definitely do that, because there are some stunningly beautiful fish out there in terms of colour. :)
