Sure is possible she's attacking him. It would be best to separate the two right away. Male bettas are best kept independent of other bettas and only with females during the breeding process. Females can sometimes be kept together. People have had success under proper conditions.

You could put a tank divider in to keep them apart or just put her in her own tank. Do something immediately though, or you'll have a dead fish on your hands before long.

Male and Female Betta 2gether

Hello. I don't know if this is a new topic or not, here goes, we have had a male betta for a long time 10 gallon tank with somekind of little shark fish, anyway we got a female about two weeks ago and I think she is eating his fins off, is that possible??? Poor guy he looks terrible.

Males and females bettas shouldn't be placed in the same tank unless there is a divider, on you have an incredibly large tank.

I would suggest taking the female out.

our female ate the male's fins off too. did you seperate them, and if so, did the male live and have his fins started to grow back?
