So it's currently packed up but when we get in our new house I'll be unpacking it ASAP! So I've always wanted a sorority, but never had one. I've had 3 male bettas in the past (all kept in 5 gallon+, in separate tanks of course.) and I loved them. So I was also thinking to divide my 10 gallon into two so I could get two males. Or! I was thinking of getting guppies or another fish type instead. I just wanted to hear your suggestions!
Thanks! I was just thinking maybe when I go to Petsmart then I'll see which fish catch my eye. If I see any stellar males I may pick two of them up and a divider rather than 4-5 females! I'm still thinking I'm leaning towards bettas, and females for my tank!
IMO a sorority in a 10 gallon is just too risky, because there isn't much rom for the females to establish territory. I wouldn't keep a sorority in anything less than 20 gallons. I would recommend dividing it for two bettas.
I'll take that into consideration. Just about everywhere I look it says a 10gal is fine for a sorority... I've only seen about 2-3posts saying 20gal. Plus my parents won't let me get another tank! Lol. But thanks for the help!
That's JMO. Many people have successful sororities in a 10 gallon, but in a larger tank you would have a higher success rate and would be able to have more girls.
Would I be able to have a male on one side of the divider and a female on the other? Just curious to know!
