Hi all. I thought I'd put this post in the care thread, just in case it gets some more views here than it would in the welcome thread.
I'm a real newbie for owning a betta. Have only had gold fish in the past. I realized after getting Blue that I was not prepared. I know I've made mistakes and am probably still making mistakes. I'm making amends and have upgraded his tank to 4 gallons. Had a filter in it, but I think it scared him. Will need to invest in a smaller one. My biggest problem right now is that I don't have a heater for his tank. I just did a water change tonight and the water is warm. He's acting very different now. A lot more movement than usual. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XafN1PvObzk
As soon as I am paid I will get a heater for the tank. As well as the "chemicals" needed to make the water safe for him.
This is a newbie question so please don't strangle me. But, if I add a warm cup of water every few hours, do you think that should help him? Or is it better for him to tough it out until I get a heater?
He's got some light colored stuff on his belly area. Could that be ich? It's not yellow. It's more like he's got a layer of dust on him. (sorry about the upside down pic)
