I have about 30,2 week old fry left from my spawn and some are always on the surface of the water. The rest are eating well.Should i cull them or let them stay there?
Since this is a surface dwelling species and at 2 weeks old being the time some will start to develop their labyrinth organ....I would say this is normal behavior-provided that they are not having buoyancy issues and eating...etc.....not belly sliding or anything.....If you haven't already-I would get the air above the water warm and humid-I use plastic veggie wrap-but anything will work-you just want to see condensation......
Thanks, but they are 3 times smaller than my others that are eating. And the ones that are on the surface are quite small and they never come down to eat. Will they survive that long.
I had some fry that scooted the bottom at 2 weeks, at 3 they all swim fine. They were the runts, a lot smaller then their siblings. I would give it at least another week or two.
