I went to the store about a month ago, and while checking out the betta fish i found one i thought was flaring at me. Turns out, his gill just sticks out like that. At the time i had no room, so i had to leave him and hope someone took care of him.
Apparently nobody wanted him because when i went back a few days ago, he was still there. I recently acquired a 10 gallon tank, and since i have the room, i took him home. he's got ammonia burns and was bloated, but I can treat that. his fins are clamped as well. I really need to know how to fix his gill. Is it possible, and if it is, what works best? He's currently in a heated 1 gal quarantine tank, being fed frozen brine shrimp soaked in garlic in case of parasites. Is there anything else I can/should be doing?
