I dont know, and cant tell if my fish is gonna do well with another betta with it cause i hear alot about how u should never ever put two bettas in the same tank!!!!! but lots of people everywhere say that they mix bettas togather for a short time :? SO I WANNA KNOW HOW TO TELL WAT MY BETTA GENDER IS and how can i add two togather!
And if you are looking to breed Bettas, not knowing the gender means you definantly have no idea what it takes to breed them, it's very hard and near impossible (I've tried with no success, then decided it was way to big a commitment).
im also unsure about betta and guppy link? do you want to mix them because it isint a great idea, as male betta have been known to attack guppies because their fins make them think its another male betta. a male betta usually has longer fins than a female, but some males can have shorter fins , as some females can have longer fins
guppies are nippers aswell and should not be put with a a betta cuz of its long fins.
mixing bettas depends on the fish's personality. groups of females can be kept together but females can still be aggressive towards one another, once someone said they kept two males together (do not do this)
I've heard that two male bettas have been kept in a big (like 10g) tank, but I still wouldn't try it. It would be an experiment that is not worth having a dead fishie over.
In general you can tell if it is a...
Male betta: Long, pretty fins
or a...
Female betta: Short fins. Some of them have rather bright fins, but in my experience, most females have either grey, black, dark red, or whitish (like, pearl or opal-like) fins.
sorry about the miss understanding between the title and question, we all make mistakes lol can you pot a picture of your betta it could help some members know if its a male or female?
This person posted another topic bout male/female, I posted pics and they've now mailed me saying its a male, and that we should stop criticizing them because they know TONS about fish.... o-0

Females should have white egg spot near their pectoral fins. Besides, you are only talking about Betta splendens. Males, of course, do not mix unless you are going to do this in a large heavily-planted tanks. We are forgetting there are wild Betta species that exist such as Betta coccina, Betta albimarginata and many more which actually can coexist well along with dwarf species of gouramis such as chocolate, licorice and samurai.
As far as guppies are concerned, they do not mix well with several gouramis and bettas as their flashy fins make them worthy rivals and these are undoubtedly helpless and do not know how to defend themselves.
