i bought my first betta today!...got him from walmart...i also have a few question, will he be ok without a heater for a while?, how much of his bloodworm feed should i feed him a day?, and how often should i change the water out of his bowl?
sorry for the huge pics, i dont know how to resize them
Hello and welcome to the forum. He'll be fine for awhile without a heater but will need to be in a warm room. Bettas shouldn't be fed bloodworms every day. They are to be fed as a once or twice a week treat. Their staple food should be pellets. I recommend Hikari betta bio gold or Wardleys. Anything less than 2 gallons should be changed at least once a week.
thank you!...my room is pretty warm so that should be ok for now, i do have a bigger tank that i will be cleaning/preparing for him tomorrow...and as for the bloodworms ordeal, can he be fed regular tropical fish food and bloodworms for about a week until i can go to town again and get some actual betta pellets?
awesome, luckily we used to have some tropical fish in a 75 gallon tank in our garage, so we have a good bit of supplies from that, when i test his water, what should the pH,nitrate, nitrite, and hardness levels be?...and when i put him in his new tank today should i put his old water in there too so it isnt a complete change?, or will it matter
Umm I have to disagree he looks like a he to me. LOL He is very pretty. What size tank is he going to be going in? Congrats on him and welcome to the addiction and the forum. LOL
the tub he was in when i bought him said male betta, so i just assumed it was a he , but his temporary name is mr. bigglesworth until i can think of something better? any suggestions?...and he is in a critter keeper thing, if i had to make a guess i'd say around 3 gallons...also i see alot of little bubbles around the edge of the tank, does this have anything to do with him making a bubble nest?
oh ok, i wasnt sure if he was just trying to make one but something was wrong and the bubbles werent sticking together like they should
