As stated in the title, a strand of my Crowntail's Ventral fin has turned white and curled into a sycamore shape. It is only one strand though, the rest of his fin is fine. Is this a disease such as fin curl? And if so, how do I treat it?
I've heard of fin melt.. Kind of like fin rot, but they usually look slightly curled and "melted" together.. =/ Have you checked your water for ammonia?
I went to get a test kit today during my break at work, but I had left my card at home... so no, I haven't tested the water lately. His fin still looks fine, just that one strand.
Hmm. That's odd. I'm not completely sure what that could be. I'm still fairly new to bettas myself.. Have you noticed any other problems with him? Or is it just that one fin?
He has been a fine and energetic fish since I got him about a month ago. He is still acting the same, but I am concerned about this spreading or injuring him. I wish my camera was clear enough to take a picture.
If he's grown any, it may just be new growth.. How is the hardness of your water? On another forum, it says that crowntails tails may become curled in hard water. Is that him on your avatar? He is very cute.
