I normally see the color in VTs, but would it be possible to have a Halfmoon male with the same coloring? I have always had a soft spot for Cambodians ever since I started. I even have a cute little red VT Cambodian female named Belle. I would just think it would be cool to have a HM with the same coloring.
Bloom wouldn't count as Cambodian, he has some purple iridescence near his tail.
Yes, it is possible to have a cambodian HM, it is just rare to find true cambodian males. There are cambodian HM females, but you have to keep in mind that cambodian females can throw both red and cambodian so it would take many generations to get cambodian males and they usually aren't *clean*. I rarely see true cambodian males on Aquabid, but they do exist.
Cambodians are very common, incl. in HM. But as DM17 said it's rather hard to find a true cambodian. All basic colors are becoming harder to find (true basic colors). Breeders are mixing everything they could think of to create new color/patterns. Cambo is one of the many ingredients to create colors such as opaque, pastel, and many other new colors.
Your ID betta is really cute, but he's not a cambodian. He's a multicolor or a White withe red BF. Cambodians have to have completely red fins and flesh colored bodies, which is why they are so hard to come by.
