Ohhhh zoomed in on the left one on the bottom pic. Do I see that thingy that males have that comes out from behind the gills when flaring? Goodness, would help if I could think of the name...
Thanks...The one on the left is the one I am most unsure of...I was thinking male due to aggression level and the ventral fin length...but then I saw the egg spot, but I've read on here that the spot is not always accurate either. Here is a pic of the spot. (and a few more of the 2)
young males can have an egg spot, too. x: have you tried shining a light on one side and looking at the other? in lighter fish, you can see ovaries in females. that way.
To me they both look like really really young males. It's by looking at their body shapes and fins (More streamlined, "sharper" facial features and the ovaries are very difficult to see on dark fish) that I'm going by Time will definitely tell!
