I had a feeling earlier today he wasnt gonna make it very long. And i was right. Looks like he died shortly after I left for work.
I cant take this anymore. I feel like I am the one killing my own fish. 3 within 2 weeks?! That cant be normal. I just....dont know.
I am super paranoid about all my others now. One of my corys dont look too good. So I dunno whats wrong with that one. Suppose I should isolate him/her. I dunno.
For now all my other bettas look fine. Acting fine. But so did Morado and Bella right before they died.
I am just,overwhelmed and confused.
Am i killing my fish?? Maybe I shouldnt have fish.
Sorry about Morado. If you are up on your water changes and always treat the water then it is not you. They may have changed something with your water from the tap.
A few years back I had a tank almost fully die off after running over 4 years with out a fish lost. It was after water was deemed safe to drink again after Hurricane Wilma, but there was something in it, even treated that my fish could not handle. I lost my double dark super veil tail angel fish that were 5 years old and as big as a softball around. They should have lived another 4-5. the only fish that lived through that were some pristella tetras.
Thanks guys. Good to hear its not me. But we always blame ourselves eh?
We have had alot of rain this past month. Way more than normal for us. I think out of all the days in June,we have not had a full day of sun. At least a bit rain every day, even if it was just a drizzle. I suppose that could affect our water? They havent flushed the lines since early May.
So thats the only other thing I can think of,if not the food. But on that same not, would it not affect all of my fish? Not just 3? For all I know my others are all sick too. I dunno.
Yeah. Well i just tested my water. The tap NOW is like 7.0. I tested Morados tank water (which I changed around same time as Bellas) and it was 7.8. I tested all my other tanks and they are in good ranges,as several are new and two just got moved. Fishy is at 7.8 as well. So, I think Bella was done in with ph shock, cause i changed her water the day before she stopped eating, then several days later she was dead.
With Morado, it may have compounded his problems maybe?? I dunno. Elvis? I dunno either.
just reading online now,the last days of his life,he had the exact symptoms of ph shock as well.
I'm so sorry about Morado. No, its not you! You take very goo care of all your animals. I think it must be something with your water, too. Also, I think I read somewhere that during the summer, when its warm, that there can be more bacteria present in water. I may have read it on bettatalk.
Well I learned recently, that if you put different fish from different stores together, like in a divided tank, one can get the other sick. I guess different fish from different store have different immunities. That's why Merlin got sick, because I put him with Blue and Blue came from Walmart. So if you get a Betta from Petco and put it with a Betta from Petsmart, you're risking their health. It's confusing but also makes sense...hope this helps
And once again, so sorry about Morado.
And it's not you. Fish don't up and get sick because of us unless we give them horrible water quality, which I know you wouldn't do. Cheer up. I know it's sad, but I dunno. It'll be okay.
I will miss his bubblenests. He blew such huge ones! He was very good at that.
I miss you and love my busy lil bubblenester and non-flarer!!
