a new betta at wal mart. The little cup said he was a crown tail, but as you can see from his picture (sorry a little blurry) that one if his fins looks really beat up. I was wondering if there is any way to help him? Also his head looks really pale, is that just his natural color or is it from being stuck in a little cup for too long?
his colors should brighten up after a little bit. being in those tiny cups and moved around all the time is super stressful for them. you can give him salt baths and make sure to do 100% water changes every day. it took about 4 days for my bettas tail to show signs of regrowth. i would add some bettafix to his water every day when you do water changes too. he's a beautiful little guy!
I used Jungle Fungus Clear on one of my bettas that had fin rot, and he is doing much better. However my other male is getting worse. I checked both my local pet stores and neither have JFE. Should I just treat him with JFC again?
When I bring home new bettas that may have fin rot but I am not sure, I use a half dose of aquarium salt in their tanks and observe them for a while. If it seems that they are getting worse I use JFC which has worked wonders for me. I'm glad to see that more people are using it now. It took me a while to stumble upon it in the pet store because most places recommend different meds but this is the only one that seems to work for me - I love that stuff!
BTW, it is very possible that he could have bitten his fins- many will when under stress, which is why I would just use a little salt as a preventative and wait and see. Good luck with him! He's very adorable
Okay I know that waiting this long to begin his treatment and stuff is probably not helping him at all, but having no money didn't help at all.
Anyways today I was able to go to petsmart and get Fungus clear, I also bought him a nice one gallon tank to get him out of the tiny split tank I did have him in. When I put the Fungus clear in it turned his water green. After about 4 hours it is still green. Is that normal?
