Few weeks ago, my betta started having these red streaks down its fin, and its body (especially the head area) looks reddish. Just recently, its belly looks bloated, and today its scales are raised. It's still behaving normally, and eating.
Seems like its got all the symptoms of the fatal dropsy. Is it still considered an early treatable stage, or has it gone beyond that?
Also, can dropsy be prevented or is it somehow inherent in the fish. I've another betta that's on the same diet (hikari pellets, and very occasionally live insects) and similar living conditions, but it's really healthy and all.
Here are photos of what it used to look like, and how it is presently.
