my betta had fin melt and i treated it and thought it was gone. but it seems to have come back. did i just not treat it fully or is fin melt something that comes back and never completely goes away?
By fin melt I'm guessing you mean fin rot, yes it can return. I don't know how your care for your Betta(s) but fin rot is typically due to water conditions so depending on your tank set up I would test the water with a liquid water test kit.
Fins melting is a form of fin rot and noted above it's due to poor water conditions (especially this melting form). More info would be helpful: http://www.bettafish.com/showthread.php?t=49233 I don't want to miss anything.
If the tank is cycled test everything - ammonia, nitrite and nitrate with a drops kit. If it's an uncycled smaller bowl just test ammonia.
well i bought the fish with fin melt but i did just move him from a small tank to a larger bowl, and hes blind so maybe its stress from being in a new place.
ETA: I took a look through your other threads and see you have also recently battled dropsy and fungus/columnaris.. more opportunistic infections which tend to happen with poor water quality. Really suggest getting your water tested and increasing water changes.
If you bought him with melt, then clean water should clear it up. Ludendorff bit off the melted part after he came back to "life" (he was lethargic for over a month when I bought him).
Just keep him clean and warm for now. Aq salt might help a bit.
