Everything got worse. It just got worse.
After discovering that my thermometer was reading wrong, I bumped up the heater and it got to about 75 before some guys from the electrical company stopped outside the house. Then my grandparent's electricity was shut off. I had the crazy idea that maybe if their electricity was off then maybe ours was on. So I went home and to my joy, the lights were on and the power was working. I raced over to my grandparent's house, packed the fish, the tank and the heater, only to go home and find that the power was off again! And then I was informed that my grandparent's power was back. So now I still had no power at home and I had just taken down the tank at my grandparent's house! I also had no idea if I were to go back there with all the fish, that their power was even going to stay on!
At that point I wanted nothing more than to curl up and sob until it was all over. But I couldn't because the fish still needed me.
Good news now though. No, we still don't have power at my house. But my grandparent's still have power and I have the tank set up and running again. This time with two thermometers to make sure the temperature is where I want it. But if this continues much longer, I'm not sure what I'm going to do.
I can't keep them in those cups forever and it's already been like six hours. One of them needed his tank cleaned today and the others weren't far behind. It's past the company's third estimate of when the power would be back. But after all this, I'm just not sure if I helped them or made everything worse!
