I think this is the right place.. He's been hiding in a flower pot and been laying there for 3 days. he comes up to get air every now and then, he's breathing heavily too and gets tired easy from doing that then he rests on a plant for a few seconds then goes down to his flowerpot to rest there. I feed him bloodworms and tropical flakes, he's in a 29 gal with heater set to 78f, he's got tankmates like platys and corydoras and 2 adfs. why is he doing this? I change the water 30% every week.
OK, while in QT you... Try to get IAL (Dried Indian Almond Leaves) or washed dried Oak Leaves and put it in the QT tank. Lower the water level to make it easier for him to breath. And finally, don't treat until you know what you're dealing with.
hmmmm, the reason I ask is I had a very active plakat type betta in a 20 gallon with some neons. He seemed fine for awhile but then the neons started dying and he got super stressed. I had to move him into a smaller tank where he seems much happier.
Are you sure the other fish are healthy? Are you sure the other fish aren't bothering him?
I've heard of that before.. Had him in a 10 gal previously which he's in now.. the other fish he was with were completely healthy and they didn't bother him.
What I would do** is put him in a one or 2 gallon container ("hospital tank") and add some aquarium salt. Instructions on the salt container say half teaspon per gallon. It's like giving a sick child pedialyte :-D
If he looks a little better after a day or 2 put him back in the 10. If not, do a water change.....then you might need to try some other fish meds. No one likes the one I used so I hope someone will come along and suggest a good one.
**I've only treated one sick betta in my betta career so far. I did a good job because he revived in 2 days and is super healthy now.
I put tons of research into bettas before I got him, and he absolutely loved me and his tankmates. I may get another because I love bettas, but I will always miss this one.
You can use Catappa Leaves (Indian Almond Leavs) becuse have many benefits.
- Relieve betta stress
- Make water sofer (Lower pH) that suitable evironment for betta.
- Prevent disease from bacteria.
I'll miss ya dip.. It'll be hard to replace you and I won't forget you as a good friend.
I have a twin tail halfmoon now.
he's snow white with blue sparkling eyes and a little bit of light blue at the end of his fins. I'm still thinking about his name.. maybe snowy or spooker, since he seems to be jumpy but maybe it's because he's getting used to a new home.
