My Platinum orange/red Dragon Hmpk male and fancy hmpk female spawned last week and I was wondering what type of fry I will end up with? There's around 100 fry in this spawn and all seem to be doing great so far. I will be posting a spawn log soon.
It wasn't my idea pairing but after 4-5 months of failed spawnings with 3 different sets of pairs, these 2 managed to make things happen.
I meant since their fins aren't exactly the same. Messy as in uneven rays (those are called rays, right?). but overall you'll get some really nice bettas!
Just in case;
Look at the male, his rays are very clear. Lets take the caudal as an example. See the lines, one at the base and it branches to 8 at the end. These are called rays - the bone structure of the fins. Yes the male's end rays could be better. But IMO he has an over all good form. He has unbalanced fin lengths. But this is fine - he is in his own class - asymmetrical PK. His ventrals could be wider and shorter. . . . but then again the breeder wouldn't sell him if he were perfect.
I think you are referring to the outer rim of the fins, which isn't smooth-round. I agree that reduces his elegance but IMO he will still produce good fry.
Thanks guys. I'm guessing a mix of fancys and solids? Like I said they weren't my ideal pair (in terms of colouring) but hopefully the fins will turn out ok.
I love that male!
I did a similar colored spawn except the female was the normal dragon and male was the fancy dragon. So far I have some solids but most are fancy marbles and cello dragons
Thanks trilobite! I was viewing your latest spawn log and I can't wait for mine to get to that stage... Excited to see what colours I will get. Also, your black copper HMPK spawn is impressive, especially some of the males!! Really nice colouring and form!
