Acrylic tank and algae

I have a male betta being kept in a 2.5 gallon Mini-Bow, soon to be upgraded to a 5 gallon.
I test his water weekly with the API kit and do a 25% water change every Saturday. His parameters, temp, health and appetite are great.
With him are 2 assassin snails and 2 Anubis plants.
I am starting to have an issue with algae on the walls of the tank that are not easy to clean off. Any ideas on how to take care of this?

Catherine

I have better photos of him but this was the only one that uploaded to photobucket.

You can get an acrylic algae scrubber. Make sure it's for acrylic and not glass, very important because glass ones will scratch acrylic.

Also you can limit your lights for just 8 hours a day if they aren't already.

And then lastly you can add some fast growing plants like water sprite, water wisteria, cambomda, anacharis, java moss, vallisneria, dwarf sagittaria and plants like those. Basically they compete for the same nutrients that algae needs and the plants more often than not will win over and the algae will go away after a while.
