This is going to be a dumb question. I bought Hikari Freezedried brine shrimp today for Flair. I didn't realize they come in "cubes." So do I just break off some and put it in the tank? I feel like it makes the tank messy. I figured it'd be like my Topfin freezedried bloodworms I had previously.
Anybody tried these before? Anyone have any input or thoughts on how to feed these things?
I've never used it before, but I would just break it up into a small pieces, maybe the size of like pellets, and let it soak in the tank water for a bit, so its not that hard
Well that is the thing. If i try to break the pellet size they kind of just crumble into crumbs. And then they just have little pieces all over the tank floating around. I grabbed most of them with the net, but a few tiny pieces were to tiny to get with the net. I'm not sure if he is going to eat them. I had him out so I could put new decorations and do a really good cleaning of the tank (long story)...so he is a little upset because he is trying to see what I did new lol. So I may try putting crumbs again later?
oh ok, I see what you're saying, does the package or container have any directions on how to feed those? You would think they should, because the cubes are pretty big right? And how could they expect you to feed them that?
The directions say "Feed the amount your fish will completely consume within a few minutes up to three times daily. For additional feeding options, ask your aquatic retailer about Hikari's other specialized diets including Bio-pure frozen and freeze dried, providing cleanliness and quality beyond compare!"
Yeah that helps me lol. Here is a piccie of the cubes in the container...I am open to any and all ideas you can offer guys.
This was not supposed to be such a big pic...sorry!!
Those cubes expand quite a bit when wet and are meant to feed a larger quantity of fish. They're kind of hard to feed to one betta because it's way too much food. You might want to look for sun dried baby shrimp. I have some made by Tetra. They're individual little shrimp so you can just feed one or two at a time. Even then I usually break them in half because bettas have kind of small mouths. But mine love them.
Ok, now it worked. Wow, those are pretty big, well what I first suggested is all I can think is what could work, sorry like I said, I've never fed my betta those
You could try, but they probably will just crumble up again, oh well if it doesn't work out, you could possibly return them? Does your betta like bloodworms, mine loves them, that's his weekly treat
They are opened, so I can't return them. My betta won't eat a lot of brands of FD bloodworms or brine shrimp. That's why I am running out of options.
