Plant suggestions

I was considering getting a plant for a new 5 gallon tank and was looking for suggestions. I've never had a live plant in a tank before so I'm a total newbie. I was leaning towards lucky bamboo, but am open to any suggestions. Thanks! :)

Java fern are really nice and practically look after themselves. If the room your tank is in is pretty light then you do not even need an aquarium light to keep them alive. The same goes for Java Moss.

Bamboo can't be fully submersed (in case you didn't know) I really like anubius. I think it is a good one!

Depending on what light you'd have with your plants, these are my newbie-friendly suggestions (since I am a newbie but seem to do fine with them!):

* Java fern
* Some type of moss (java, willow...)
* Some type of anubias (my favourite is anubias nana petite)
* Water sprite
* Frogbit
* Water wisteria
* Dwarf hygro
* Bacopa caroliniana

Hornwort does well also..caution hornwort grows real fast. I started with a 2 inch stem and outgrew my tank 2 times in 2 weeks. I have the clippings in a gravel tank and still grows amazing and I left more clippings in a bucket outside and it's still growing strong..

Duckweed, frogbit, java fern, mosses, anacharis, anubias all good for low light. There's quite a bit more but those are good to start with.

I also like anubias nana and you can add lucky bamboo to your tank as long as you can submerge less than half of the stem.

Anubias Nana seems to be unkillable.
Banana Plants are good.
Avoid any plants with dracaena in their scientific name none can be fully submerged.
Currently I'm having good luck with hair grass.

I actively avoid anacharis, even if it does well it always seems to eventually become a huge mess and a huge burden.
I have mixed fellings about moss balls.
