If the divider is good, then there will be no flow through yhe dividers, so that means that you need one for each occupied compartment. hope that helps.
Depends on the divider, but I'd also say depends on the tank. A larger tank (20 gal or so) would probably need two on either side, but a 10 gallon should be fine with just one. Also, different dividers will allow different water flows through, some being more open, and others being very closed. Sorry for not much help Dx
TONS of people on this forum have divided tanks;it's more economical and takes up less space. It doesn't stress the fish out, they'll get used to it, imo. And darn, that means a bunch of filters lol.
