Hello
I bought my daughter a betta a few months ago he was pretty small I'm assuming he was young since he's grown into a beautiful fish :-D he's very friendly and always excited to see my daughter. He swims right to the top and does little "tricks" for her but when I put the mirror by his tank he swims backwards or just swins in circles but no flare?
some bettas never flare, im not sure why, but its normal! one of mine wont flare at his self most of the time, he will only flare at another betta (when i remove the paper from between my tanks) its weird, but its normal lol.
He's royal blue I can't remember the type he has real long fins but he's the most laid back little betta I've ever seen. I've also never seen one that responds to a person the way he does my daughter. She Loves it. Well I'm glad it's normal I was worried about him
All my guys ignore mirrors and photos or videos of other males flaring. They will do semi flares as I call it, which means no pushed out gills or visible beard, but the rest of the fins are in flare position.
Norbert almost never flares. Some bettas flare a lot. It's completely normal! It just has to do with the fish's personality. I can't get Norbert to flare at himself in the mirror to save my life.
My Poseidon only ever flares at other bettas. He has tank mates and totally doesn't mind them, but if I put my girl Amphi near him, he flares. He used to flare at my roommate's betta all the time too.
