I went to Petsmart and I figured I'd get another female betta since it's been a few weeks since I lost Lila. So I was looking through the female bettas and I came across a really cute one who I think was green. I kept looking and then I saw a really sad looking one with really bad fin rot! :-( Her fins are nearly gone. I had to get her. But I really liked the little green one too, so I got her, too. I got to the register and pointed out the fin rot to the employee and asked her if I could have her for free because I have stuff at home to treat her. She looked unsure but the manager was at the next register so she called him over, so I told him what I had told the other girl, so he looked at the fish, and he was like, "Oh yeah, I see that." And then he said, "You have stuff at home to treat her with?" And I said "Yes." So he said, "Oh yeah, that's fine." They both genuinely felt bad for the fish and it seemed like the manager was actually glad to let me have her to give her a good home. I was actually really surprised.
She was pretty active in her cup but once I acclimated her and put her in the tank, she's just staying at the top and isn't really moving. Do you think she will be ok? Maybe just stressed about being moved to a bigger space? She's in a gallon tank and I put aquarium salt and stress coat in her water. That should help get rid of the fin rot, right? Also, should I change the water every day or just partial changes most days and full changes a couple times in the next 10 days (I know I shouldn't treat with the AQ salt for more than 10 days)?
Here are a couple pics. She's a weird color. I think I'll call her "Lemon". hehe
Also, I'm suspicious of the length of her ventrals. What's left of them is very long (You can't see them in the pics because she's all clamped right now).
