when betta's have mated and the fry are born...how in the world do you do water changes? wont that disrupt the bubblenest or ruin it? let alone you might kill some of the fry in the process if your not carful...
so how is it done? I can't imagen you just leave it like that till their old enough...the water would get horribly dirty...
and a filter? can't the babys accidently get sucked up?
Usually you don't put a filter in the tank until the babies are big enough to swim away from it. A sponge filter set very low probably won't cause any problems. Most of the time you don't do a water change until the fry are free swimming. Get a turkey baster and use it to suck up uneaten food and debris daily between water changes.
After that make a siphon out of airline tubing and siphon the water and remove debris... try not to suck up any babies. Once you've finished siphoning take a flashlight and shine it into the bucket and make sure you haven't sucked up any babies (which you probably have). Scoop them up in a brineshrimp net and put them back in the tank.
Put fresh, clean water in the tank either by slowly dipping a pitcher of the water in and allowing it to slowly flow out or by using your siphon to siphon the water from the bucket into the tank (in which case you'll need to put the bucket high enough for gravity to work).

so basicly...do it VERY carefully...ok got it. I wont be mateing any betta's for a good while though...need to wait and get a bigger tank...around 250gallons to 300gallons should work right?
You don't need that big a tank. Most people use 10 gallon tanks to spawn in and then once the fry are big enough they transfer them to a 20-30 gallon for grow out.
