There are now eggs dropping but he is not picking them up he doesn't even notice them falling.

Just give him time and if he won't pick them up then, if you are also breeding another pair, then try giving him the eggs. Some dads have been known to "adopt" another's eggs and nurture them to full growth.

Congrats......give them time....and try not to disturb them-but do watch....neat to watch Betta spawn.....once the male chases the female away from the nesting site and she doesn't return or not allowed to return...they are done and she should be removed......

Once you remove her-don't put you hands/net in the water/tank-sometimes a male especially a first time breeder will eat their eggs if they feel threatened.....when they feel a threat to their eggs- instinct tells them to eat them for the protein and later when it is safe they will have the energy to spawn again....

Look forward to some pics......and following your spawn log.....

What cultures or feeding plan for the fry once they are free swimming.....

Some things/issues in regards to spawning and fry rearing we have to learn as we go.....it can be different from spawn to spawn and some things we have to learn with hands on experience.......
