Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? He's lost nearly all of his color, he went from being a vibrant blue to a dull translucent brown with stripes.
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? He doesn't swim around anymore except for to go to the surface to breathe, otherwise he lays on the bottom of the tank, more recently on his side, or like he's sitting up kind of.
When did you start noticing the symptoms? Around Monday*
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how? Epsom salts at .25 tsp/gal since he's a baby, per recommendation of lilnaugrim
Does your fish have any history of being ill? No
How old is your fish (approximately)? Maybe 3 months? I've had him for just shy of 2 months and he was pretty tiny when I got him.
*I know that he's very constipated - he hasn't pooped in nearly 2 weeks. He's also refused food for the past 2 weeks as well, I tried daphnia and he just looked at it and swam away. He did eat a small portion of blood worm on Friday, but nothing before or since then. He was swimming fine up until Monday, that's when he started laying on the bottom more and not swimming. He appears fine except for his color loss... no strange patches on him or bumps/lumps. His fins are fine, no signs of rot and he's not clamped. I'm hoping the Epsom salts will help, but is there anything else I need to be doing? I'm really worried about the little guy. The picture shows how he sits. It also shows his iridescence - but really he has little to no color
