My baby hit his head… hard.
So I was going to check in him before I went into a different room for the night. I turned on the light and bumped the tank while he was at the top. He torpedoed down to the bottom hitting is head. He layed at the bottom, and cause I was scared he had died, I took a net and moved it around him. After a few seconds he moved, and he looks dizzy. I am SO scared he won't make it through the night. I really don't want to loose my Angel.
It might take him a little while to get over it, if he hit it very hard, and you might see some scale damage, but he will probably be ok. My fish fell at least 3 feet to the hard floor when she jumped out of her tank, and she's ok.
Not all Bettas flare.
Just try to keep the tank pretty shallow and add IAL or washed dried oak leaves. As others have said, try to keep him comfortable and add stress coat.
My male betta Aquarius rarely flares at anything or anyone. He's a more docile guy which is why he does so well with his tank mate Bilbo Froggins. Every fish is different.
He has a leaf hammock he won't leave 2 and a half inches from surface
