What are they, and why do people buy them for bettas? Is there anything they do thats special? I am just curious. I just about some capptatatataasdugdsfg leaves for my fishie! he is struggling with some bacteria so besides the salt/medicine I thought the leaves might help a little too!
from what i heard they help eat nutrients in the water that normally feed unwanted Algae ... and will actually starve out the unwated algae... it theyre pretty cool to watched them float up n down in the water by themselves
I have 5 right now, 1 in my 3 gallon with my male and 3 in my 5 gallon with my other betta (unsure if male or female right now) and 1 in a 1/2 gallon by itself just because i don't quite know what to do with the last 1. I'm not sure about what benefits they bring to a tank i just think they're fun.

Be careful of where you buy it though, some places sell fake Marimo balls.
but back on topic, Marimo balls look fantastic! I just bought a big one and divided in 1/2 and now I have 2 they really make the tank look better IMO
