The temperature in my house fluctuates a lot and the weather has been crazy (one day its 90 and the next its 50). So I want to know: should my adjustable aquarium heater keep my bettas water temperature stable despite fluctuations in room temp? I mean as long as the air temp doesnt go too high, because I know the heater wont cool the water...
But I mean like will it keep the water the same temp whether the air in the room the tank is in is 45 degrees or 70 degrees?
My adjustable heaters are set to keep the tanks at 78F while my room temp will drop to the 60's at night. I have A/C so in the summer my room temp doesn't get above 80 & the tanks get to that or slightly above because of the tank lights. If your water temp is not staying a steady temp with the heater, I'd get a new heater.
Correct, the heaters (when working properly) will keep the temp stable. There may be slight fluctuations but usually only within a degree or two. When the water cools down to below the setting the heater will kick on and bring it to the proper temp.
If you have an adjustable heater it should kick on when the water temp drops below the temp the heater is set on & shouldn't be more than a degree or 2 below what the heater is set for.
I think so, but the margin for when the heater kicks in may vary between brands and models because of quality differences. lol I'll mention add fact that there is a point when the air temperature is so low that a heater won't be able to keep up, but that has to be really cold.
