I wouldn't advise putting two females together. One will dominate and bully the other one to death. You CAN put 4 females in a 10 gallon tank with lots of plants and hiding places. There are other members who have experience with this and hopefully they'll share their thoughts about it.
Yeah 2 females are a definite no no unless you have a huge tank with lots of hiding places. I currently have a female betta sorority running. I am using a 10 gallon tank with 4 females. In my opinion it really isn't too difficult to do this, however it's just luck of the draw depending on your females personality. If you would like to set up a sorority I would suggest getting a 10 gallon tank and 2 more females. Females of the same size/age are best. Decorate your tank with lots of hiding places and plants, then release all 4 females together. There will be some chasing and nipping fins but things settle down within a few hours or maybe even a day or two. I added 3 of females together first with no damage but I added a fourth and she was nipped a few times on her fins that she is still recovering from, however everyone is getting along now. I don't want to discourage you from building a sorority, it really is very cool when everything is done, just make sure there are plenty of spaces for them to get away from eachother. Good luck, let us know how things go
They pretty much covered it. We don't recommend housing two females together. But like said, you can have 4+ females in a 10 gallon with LOTS of hiding places and plants.
If you need more information on accessories and such, you can check out my thread as well, because I'm going to begin a sorority tank :] Here's the link if you're interested.
Thank you all! I might start a sorority in the future but getting 5 bettas in a week has been a big adjustment already. So I might chill before starting a sorority
