I got my first Bettas about a month ago now, and I just wanted to make sure I'm doing it all right
SO I have two fish, Merry and Pippin (yes, Lord of the Rings haha). Merry is a sapphire blue veil tale and Pippin is a multicoloured (mostly red) crown. They're really pretty, and have lovely personalities. I'm hooked on bettas now
They both have a bowl each that is 4.5 litres (about 1.2 gallons) with pebbles in them, that were washed before they were put in. I don't have a heater, but I live in tropical Australia, so it stays fairly warm. But, how do you tell if the water is too cold? Do they react?
Both the fish get fed a small pinch of Betta food morning and night. Is that too much? Too little? I'm not too sure were to find live food for them yet, but I'm looking!
The water gets a 25% change every couple of days, but more often if the water looks extra cloudy. A 75% change is down once a week. But in general, the fish seem happy, they make bubbles a lot.
Everything was fine, except I think Merry has formed what looks like a blister on his lip? I've looked up commen problems, but they don't seem to match. Mum jokes that it's a blister from blowing too many bubbles but yer, any ideas?
