i just got 2 new male bettas. i got a tank with a divider. they are both crown tail. but my red tail keeps trying to get my blue betta, and is scaring him. should i seperate their tanks?
if they are seeing each other through the divider, you could put a thick plant or decoration on each side so they cant see each other. if not, get an opaque divider
they will get stressed which is bad for their health, what size is the tank? and a plant or two (depending on tank size) will work great, they love hiding in plants and its ok for them to see each other and flare a bit but that much will just wear them down.
Yes, this is stressful for them. Those dividers are also not fool proof, so I'd be careful. I've seen bettas jump OVER dividers to get at the betta next to them and fight them.
Separation would be the safest option here.
