You know, I've been wondering if its only my betta, but maybe you guys can help? I've tried to get Copernicus to flare, and he's only done it like 2 times now. Once, when I put a spoon in to block him from entering the filter hole when I was cleaning it (forgot spoons were shiny apparently haha) and I've gotten him with a mirror. Every other time he notices the reflection and swims up next to it, but then clamps his fins and swims off. What does this mean? Any of yours do this? Could he still be too young?
Hes young like my little Teal he doesn't flare likes his reflection attacks it, runs away but doesn't pop out the gills. lol They are just cute when they are young like that. I call it practicing to become a big boy.

welp, looks like Copernicus had a growth spurt over night! His tail actually hasn't grown longer, just in the picture he stopped and it drooped down. His anal fin is the one that got longer...just noticed it this morning! He does hold his tail like a veil tail, so I'm thinking that's what he will turn into! You can also see his awesome bubble nest he made me...best one yet! :D

In honor of Valentines day, I bought my second valentine (first being my fiancÚ, of course :p) some new things! I've noticed he's been a little mopey and depressed since his whole ordeal (almost killed by petco's stupid "aquarium safe" ornaments) so I went out and bought him a fluval ceramic cave and a gorgeous piece of mopani wood. :] Gonna get him a new silk plant, too! Take a look! :]

love his decor!

By the way, Skerries' tail was round like that for a while too. As it grows out, it'll droop some more. He's a very nice veil!
