my betta is not eating but he has bubbles at the top of the water which im told means hes happy i have probaley had him for two weeks but he doesnt touch the pelets that i give him wat should i do i have him in a big bowl and everthing
he has a four litre fish bowl with no heater because i live in queensland so its really hot and no filter and i feed him the betta fish pellets and also fish flakes wat should i do??
yeah i live in sydney, and it isn't as hot down here as it is up there, but u shud keep some sort of light over the tank, preferably a high heat one, just to ensure the water stays around 25-26 Celcius, the water will not get hotter if that is also the temperature outside. Put a thermometer in the tank too, just to keep check on the temp. ok?
Just for the record... 4 litres is not a big bowl at all! Minimum i wopuld be keeping a betta in is 20 litres, which is ABSOLUTE bare minimum. I would consider upgrading if i were you. Imagine being stuck in the same room for 2-3 years, and you could only walk around in a small circle. That doesn't seem fair does it? You wouldn't shove a dog in a closet for its' life span, you wouldn't keep a rabbit in its' hutch 24/7. So I ask you, please consider rehousing your betta to a larger enclosure. I know you say he is making his bubble nests, but it still does not mean he is content with his living quarters...
As for food, try feeding him live foods. Brine shrimp and blackworms work wonders with my cousins betta, and i'm pretty sure he'll like the change from the boring pellets he is always receiving
