I am planning on going out of town for the weekend (Friday to Sunday night) and I was wondering what to do about feeding Walli. I know when I was younger my mother had goldfish and when we would go away for extended periods of time, she would drop these large weekend feeder things for the fish.
Is there something like that for bettas? I can't make arrangements to have someone stop in and feed him.
The betta will be fine without food for a few days. Those weekend feeders just pollute the tank and could cause an ammonia spike. I've been out of town plenty of weekends, and my fish do just fine.
I had friends who went away for a whole month, and their baby boy survived no problem (Although that long I would never recommend) I have gone away for 4 days, but it does depress my betta, and he loses some of his brilliant coloring.
Yeah, a month is waaaay too long. But bettas are hardy, and can survive some pretty amazing things. In fact, I'd argue that a fast for a few days is probably healthy from time to time. It would certainly happen in the wild.
