I generally try to recommend buying sisters from a breeder who haven't been separated/jarred since they're used to each other.
If you want a mix of tail types this isn't the route to go, but some spawns have a nice mix of colors for variety in a sorority.

This is a good example of how heavy you want the plants to be:

Plants floating on top are really important if you can't get live float plants take the weights off of plastic ones and float those.
