I got 3 ghost shrimps today, and i am wondering if i should put some aqueon pellets that sink for them to eat. Because i always put just enough betta pellets for my baby to eat so the shrimps don't really have left over to eat. But i do have a marimo moss ball, but do they eat that?
Shrimp are scavengers and will eat anything, however, they do need supplemented food a few times a week....you can either drop a couple of extra Betta pellets in for them or any type food..even flakes..2-3 times a week...my red cherry shrimp will come to the top to get food and are nearly aggressive as the fish at feeding time and will take food from them at times....kinda funny to watch.....
I used to give my ghost shrimp blood worms, but I would hand feed it to him to be sure my betta didn't eat it and if he didn't find it it didn't rot and make the water dirty. If put it on my finger and slowly go towards him he's usually smell it and swim right over and sit on my finger and eat it. If you can get your little guy to do this I'd highly recommend it. It's a great way to bond with him too!
they are also carnivores, convinced they just ate my new snail >.>
