ok forgive me im a noob at fish but i have a 2 gallon tank that i had one betta in (bubbles) and he was active i put a divider in and put a second one in (azul, can u guess his color) now bubbles is kinda blah does not like to do anything, could the fact i put another betta in be messing with him?
Absolutely. The tank mate will make Bubbles stressful in such a small space.
For 2 bettas you don't want to go lower than a 5 galons, and that's pushing it.
Two galons is way too small for the two fish to share the space.
It sounds like your water quality might be getting bad too. With two fish the water quality will deteriorate much faster. Plus you gave him 2 gallons and then took that space away! That is just not cool in his eyes.
I would remove that divider, get myself to a dollar shop and find a nice large bowl or tank, 2 gallons as a minimum, grab a heater and put your new guy in that. That way they can both have two gallons.
ok got the perfect solution. my roommate bought a 50 gallon hexigonal tank today and i put azul in it soon ( after 2 weeks) he will have some more friends in there. and bubbles is back to his "normal" self.
That's excellent. I'd still grab a second bowl, though, just in case Azul doesn't appreciate his new friends. Some bettas make amazing community fish, but you never can tell.
