Unfortunately, my five day old (well, as long as I've had him) betta Royal died today of what looked like columnaris. I came home with the meds and he was already gone. S.I.P Royal.
Fortunately, petsmart didn't make me pay for the meds and offered me another fish if he passed. But I wan't to get prepared first so this NEVER happens again.
First question: can the moss ball I had in the tank with Royal spread the infection to the next fish?
2. How do I effectively clean everything so that the next fish isn't in danger?
3. What can I do to avoid columnaris the next time?
Thank you for any help. I'm really sad but determined to get a healthy betta for my dorm in the fall.
