three dead nerites...

I just bought three nerite snails and it looks as if all three died. They arrived alive and the first three days they were alive then the fourth day they weren't moving and haven't moved since and it has been a week and one smelled awful so Im sure its dead the other one is really stiff and has no response...

I don't know what I did wrong they were perfectly fine. the ph in the water is above 7 and they had been eating algae wafers

I want to get some more in the future but don't want this to repeat

Even though Nerite snails are very hardy they are sensitive to high nitrate levels. They are very sensitive against copper-based medications and such medications should never be used in an aquarium containing Nerite snails as a dead snail or two quickly can pollute the water. If you keep Nerite snails in freshwater they prefer hard water and should never be kept in aquariums with a lower pH than 7. Limestone is highly recommended in the aquarium when you keep Nerite snails in freshwater. When kept in brackish water you can follow the same advice as for saltwater.

yeah I made sure to test all this stuff before I got them :( my water is hard about 150... and the pH is about 7.8 and I don't use any copper medications idk what else it could have been

I had something similar happen. Lost both of my nerites, and I think that's enough. The Cherry Shrimp are still fine so I don't think it's copper, other things also ok. I'm just chalking it up to something odd and I'll not get any others.

Yeah Im sad they were so cute and I feel bad poor little guys :(

that is why im probably not gonna get anymore but they were pricey too
