Hello from South Florida!

Hello I'm a college student in South Florida and I recently setup a small tank in my room. A week later I had 4 tanks and 6 bettas! I joined to learn more about these fun fish and hopefully make some bigger tanks this summer.

IMHO they make great dorm room fish. They are strong and low maintenance.

This was my first betta, a red crowntail. He is big, fat, and very happy. I don't have a name for him yet, but my roommate nicknamed him "betta flocka flames" after the rapper and his tail looks like flames.




This is Zombie. He got sick after I bought him, but he pulled through!




This is Whitey. Curious little guy and loves to swim.

This is my 6 gallon female betta tank. 3 females, 4 neon tetras, a shrimp, and a pleco to keep the tank sparkly clean. They get along pretty well.

Welllllcome. I'm in SF too, going to FAU. :) Where you going to school at?

I have Goblin in my dorm room too, and my roomie has a betta of her own. (upon me harassing her)
I've been looking for another betta to fill my 2.5 gal. >8D

Welcome. One quick thing, I would recommend more plants and hidey holes in your sorority, especially with so few females. Don't want them to fight. :)

I go to FAU also. My roommate wanted some, but he is gone every weekend in the fall semesters for football, so he has decided against it. I'm moving off campus next semester, so I hope to move them into some bigger tanks.

Yeah I noticed that. I just bought a sunken car at petsupermarket yesterday, so I'm going to put it in when I have the time, Thanks.

I have a new 10gal tank that I haven't set up yet cuz we have to start moving out in 2 weeks. Did you get your bettas from the petsupermarket near Publix? I bought a gorgeous yellow VT from them once, and he died.

I got all of them from the petco on glades/441, except my blue one from pet supermarket and he got very sick. Not sure if I would buy bettas from there again. Glades Rd./US 441 has 3 pet stores right next to each other if you didn't know.

Yeah I knew. There all on corners. There is a closer petsmart up federal somewhere. I've never been to it but it looks monstrous. Where the hell do you have room for all those fish? I barely have room for the one I've got in my room. Unless you have it in the common/kitchen area.
