Aaagh! New fishy! (I tried to resist...)

...but it was so pitiful, and all the cups had mildew and black algae-slime-yuck on the sides, and, and...
sigh. Fine. I'm weak. Sue me.


this is the cup...it looked worse in person. That's chunks of algae at the bottom and yuck growing on the side. He was swimming backwards and upside down.



This is him recovering in a half-gallon vase until I can get another setup for him. He's pretty erratic right now but better, so fingers crossed that the damage isn't permanent. He's pretty young- what a looker!

Yeah, his color really brightened in the clean water...it's not all just camera flash. He seems to be doing better this evening though he's acting a bit shy. Of course, coming out of that brown, nasty water, the clean bowl must seem like being under spotlights! I'm keeping him in a shadier part of the bookshelf so he's not scared. Hopefully he'll get braver as he learns to trust me.
