cant make up my mind

Hey guys

So Rojo my betta is living in a 20 gallon tank right now with 7 harlequin rasboras, no problems with them. I was just thinking whether he would be happy in a 5 gallon all by himself i'm ready to get one for him , i just can't make up my mind. Right now he doesn't seem sad at the same time hr is'nt as active as before like he's not bobbing and weaving through all the plants as much as he used to so.......

You could try rearranging the plants and decor you already have to make things more interesting for him. Bettas do get bored or get him a new toy. Lots of people here have a leaf hammock.

If the filter is putting out a lot of current this could be keeping him to one side of the tank. I've noticed that my boys get less active when they have to spend extra energy fighting the filter. You could try baffling the flow with an aquarium sponge.

There are a few methods. The one I like the best is to rubber band an aquarium sponge (found in the filter section of pet stores) over the outflow. This will slow the flow of water from the tank. Another method is using a water bottle as explain here (it's a little more complex): Step-By-Step Filter Baffle I don't like this method as much because it just pushes the flow to the back, and a fish exploring the back wall can get caught in it. I have both of these types of baffles on different tanks.
