What is my fish doing?

I have a betta who is old, but has always been perky and exciting. Within the last couple of months, he has had a lot less energy. He spends most of his time resting at the bottom of the bowl. In the last couple of weeks, however, he has had some odd behavior. He now floats facing straight up, as if he's looking at the ceiling. About every 30 minutes or so, he will shoot up to the top and circle around the top very quickly with his face outside the water. Then he'll float down and face the ceiling again. What is he doing? Has he lost it?

I have never seen this behavior before, nor have I ever heard o fit. I have a friend who is a Betta Guru", I will try to get in touch with him and get some answers. Just a thought here, and I could be way off base, maybe he is lonely. Just a thought, though.

Thanks. How do you keep a betta from getting lonely? I really know nothing about them.

it could also be old age how old is he (if you know) ?

I asked the friend I got him from, and he said the fish is likely four years old. All the other fish my friend has had have lived about this long.

yea i think it could be old age 4 years it quite long. wait for someone else to post incase it could be somthing else. good luck
