Brand new tank

Does anyone know if I need to wait any amount of time before introducing my betta to his new tank? I've been told that the water needs to sit in the new tank for a few days before putting him in. He is currently in a 1gallon vase, but I just bought him a new 2.5 gallon tank. Please let me know. I would appreciate it.

If you plan to keep him with no filter then no, you don't need to wait. Simply add the water at the same temp that the vase is, add dechlorinator and then you can acclimate like normal.

Adding a small filter will help in the long run. It will take some time for the filter to become established. Water changes of 50% 3x a week for 6-8 should establish the new filter so you can cut down to water changes once a week. Just make sure to use dechlorinator every time you change the water.
