Bloodworms you can buy frozen at your local pet store just ask them for it. You can try mosquito larvae, easy to find, just put a bucket of water outside and wait for mosquitoes to lay their eggs. Maybe buy different brand of pellets and alternate? New Life Spectrum, Omega One, and Hikari Bio-Gold all all good brands.

And yeah, no chicken.

The BEST way for a Good Diet is VARIETY.
. Pellets and/or Flakes should be the Staple Diet. ( Pellets are better IMO )
. Freeze-Dried as Treats ( Known to Bloat )
. Live and/or Frozen Foods are Nutritional and Best to give when VERY CLEAN

My Feeding Schedule:
Sunday: Freeze-Dried Bloodworm, 1 at Morning, 1 at Night
Monday: 3 Pellets, 1 at Morning, 1 at Afternoon, and 1 at Night
Tuesday: Same ^ with, 1 Big Flake
Wednesday: 3 Pellets, 1 at Morning, 1 at Afternoon, and 1 at Night
Thursday: Same ^ with 1 Big Flake
Friday: 3 Pellets, 1 at Morning, 1 at Afternoon, and 1 at Night
Saturday: Freeze-Dried Bloodworm, 1 at Morning, 1 at Night

If you do use freeze-dried food, make sure you soak it first to rehydrate it and help prevent bloat. :)

I've heard of breeders feeding fry shredded hardboiled egg yolk, but definitely check with one of them before you try it on your fish.

Between the freeze dried blood worms, and the tetrabetta floating mini pellets, plus the little pigs eat the corry cats' food the tetra vegies and wardly sinking pelets.

I wouldn't bother with the flakes. A lot of bettas won't take them and they can pollute the water. I'd spend the money on a heater - it's more important than a varied diet. :)
