vase within a tank?

so i was wondering , i have a vase and its taller than my tank kinda my tank is around 2.5 gall or something so the vase is small but somewhat big enoughf for betta fish , can i put gravel in the bottom of the vase to weitg it down so the vase has a fish and the tank has a fish ? , would that be a good idea , my bettas dont or cant jump so would it be a good idea ?

All bettas can jump, and will given the chance.
I'd say no, because the vase would have to hold at least a gallon to properly hold a betta, then it would also displace a lot of water from the 2.5 gal tank.

I am guilty of this. Until I get a difrent set up I have my female in a vase I just have to do full water changes and clean it ALOT. I dont mind doing it and she is a deap purple color in comparason to how pale she was when I first got her. I dont recomend it openly but its a possibillity.
BUT
i have a ten gallon tank.

Grrr sorry I am scatter brained at the moment. Sorry, let me explain that better:
my female lives in a vase inside of my male's ten gallon.
she has a pile of rocks at the bottom that she loves to swim through(i had a cave but she ignored it)
i am just a water change Nazi.
Oh and her being in the tank some how stops that weird light refrating of the rounded vase.

Umm.. Why can't you just get a tank? Maybe a Tupperware container. They are nice.
