Question Female form?

Okay, so after looking through a bunch of photos I'm a bit confused. It seems like most people regard something like this to be 'the perfect female form', with 180 spread, nice dorsal, and short anal.

Yet, I see some people breeding crazily long finned females and people go nuts about how pretty they are. Usually they are pretty amazing, minus the inch-to-long anal fin they all seem to have.

SO, I'm just curious-- does breeding such a long finned girl help in the long run, or make the anal fins way out of whack? Because HM is suppose to be like a perfect circle right?

The form standard applies for both male and female. But sometimes, people don't care about form and love what ever type of bettas. And sometimes they mainly breed for color. Then there's the sad truth that sometimes, that's the only form available to them and they have to make the best of it.

So it should be an arc-even circle like the HM males? Again, just wondering because lately I've seen people oggle over the long finned girls, and breeders pricing them way higher. I guess it's just personal taste.

Yes it's personal taste. And breeders take an advantage of that.
People who understand form and have money to spend on them, won't consider unbalanced finnage (except for asymmetrical PK). But sometimes it is also due to impatience - say they have a perfect male but the only females available have long anals.

I think her auction is over, just using the photo as a ref. Such a pretty girl though..

Female one is the best.
It's easier to get a blance female from hmpk then a hm line
My rating
1,4,3,5,2 then 6
1 most balance out of all the female
4 a fin is a bit long but c n d fin help
3 c fin is not a full spread but its even
5 I like the color
2 c fin is to short
6 body is out of shape, a fin is way to long

I am just speaking for HM. I have never had a problem with breeding shorter finned females as the males come out the the same. ( I feel like the female caries tends to have her form reflected in the fry the most). I think it just depends on preference like everyone said. In most cases though it is about balance. If you have short finned males crossing to a longer finned female would probably help in the long run. Where as it is common to cross HM back to PK and you will get, among other things, shorter fins. So I think the female you use depends on your goal. Because even if you breed 2 perfect fish you rarely get all perfect fry. I recently got a longer finned HM girl and bred her I am interested to see what her fry will look like and if it greatly affects the anal fins or anything else.
