Japas Before/After

It's been a while since I was on this forum, mostly because I was off getting married, working two jobs, and so on. :P

But... I figured I'd share the before and after of my favorite betta I have from last year when I got him to now.

This is Japas a year ago. He came to me having bitten up his tail.



And... the attached pictures are Japas now, tail grown back and lookin' super royal blue. <3 While he may looked clamped a bit, let me assure you he is -not-. He darts around like speedy gonzales and was mid-swim in just about all of the pictures I managed to get. These were the best.

Did you use anything special to help his tail grow back? My Azrael keeps ripping his caudal fin (I'm trying to track down the source, first thought are the plastic plants so they're out for now) and it's healing itself. I just wondered if there was something I might do to help it along.

wow huge change in colors! my yellow betta is starting to go to black pigmentation. Congrats on getting married!

Nice! He darkened up beautifully and filled out great! He looks like a completely different fish now!

You did a great job rehabbing him--he looks wonderful! By the way, what kind of snails are those that I see in some of the pictures? I was thinking of getting a few small snails at some point for my boy Vulcan's tank.

DON'T DO IT. I never intended to have snails. They came with some plants I got from both my local pet stores and online. I've not been able to get completely rid of them and they multiply like crazy. If you get any, just get a big snail.

Nope, not really. He has half of a 10 gallon all to himself and he gets aq salt every time I do a water change. Otherwise, I think it's just the freedom of having room. He hasn't been a tail-biter since he came to me. I think he was just bored in his bag/box on the trip from Thailand. :(
